We are building a home and are qualified for the loan already. Since we can’t lock in for at least another 15 days, I want to make sure I know what the interest rates are looking like at the moment. Last I heard they were at 5% but I’m hoping they are going down a little more.

I think it’s at 5.99% right now but some home builders are buying down the rates by a percent. They are going up though…we were interested in a house a couple weeks ago and they were offering 4.5% interest but by the time we put in an offer (like a week ago) the rates had already gone up to 5%…the time to buy is now…they are starting to raise base prices of new homes. Oh, and I live in Texas…good luck with your new home!
