My husband and I have always had perfect credit until a business failure 2 years ago. We had to file for bankruptcy (it was discharged 1 year ago). Does anyone have names of reputable lenders willing to do a small loan — maybe $2,500? We have been almost a month behind on our mortgage for a year now and I can’t seem to catch up. Also, part of the $$ would be for a down payment on a car. We would try to refinance or get a home equity loan but due to the fact that it is a manufactured home (on 5 acres) lenders seem to turn up their noses on us — especially since our credit ratings have suffered due to the BK, etc. Any suggestions?? I am 18 and I have only been overdrawn once, and this was not my fault as a phone company took money from my account without my consent, i have sorted this out with the phone company who are now paying my bank charges. However i applied for a loan, and was denied due to being overdrawn. How long should i wait now until i apply for a loan? Tad annoying as i didnt get myself overdrawn in the first place!

Basically its about my student loan. I applied for a student loan in march and my application was approved in april but its July and I haven’t had any letters or haven’t heard anything from student finance since they sent me a form to sign in april. Is this normal? I don’t really know how it works, I mean do they usually contact you at a later date just before you actually leave for uni or what? Maybe I’m just stressing for no reason but any advice/comments appreciated.

My credit score was in the low 400′s after my student loan went into default. I am still confused how the other loans with the same company were in defferment but these were left off. I was just told too bad. My question is now that I have consolidated the defaulted loan I have also gotten some credit repair and a lot of derrogatory things paid off and deleted. Does consolidating the student loan in itself improve your credit score?
